  1. I’m excited but it looks a little easy. Like the enemy doesn’t hit hard enough for an action combat game. In the original, you had a lot of health because you couldn’t avoid attacks. It seems like you have a lot of health AND you can avoid attacks… I hope I’m wrong though 🙂

The attack animations have lots of flair and impact to them, but the combat is clearly designed to be sluggish and drawn out with enemies tanking so many hits that the way the animation sells every blow starts to feel contrived, like driving in a foot diameter steel post into the grown with a claw hammer.

    How is any attack supposed to feel weighty when completely knocking a two ton robot onto it's haunches only takes off a thin wafer of it's health?

    FF7's battles had really good pace to them and could be quick or drawn out at appropriate moments, whereas this looks like FF13 where everything is bogged down, overly cinematic, and every enemy feels like a damage sponge you just wish would roll over and die already.
