  1. NIGHT STALKER has always been one of my all-time favorite classic INTELLIVISION II games (along with AD&D’s TREASURE OF TARMIN and CLOUDY MOUNTAIN). But I’ll be honest, I’m not getting all the “good vibes” that everyone else is getting with this. Like one reviewer said, the “art direction is terrible.” And I HATE that I’m even saying this, but it’s true. Many of the graphical elements do not fit together. Between the glowing NIGHT STALKER characters, the robots, the spiders, the bats, and those black and red wormy things (whatever those are), they don’t even look like they belong in the same environment.

The spider and bats match each other; the glowing NIGHT STALKER characters and the laser guns match each other; the walls match the “cage” at the center of the maze, but none of these three sets of things match the other two sets. They’re disjointed. They lack any cohesive element to tie them to the same game world. A lot of this has to do with the color palate. Some colors are flat and drab, while others are neon and glowing. I don’t know, it’s like too many cooks were in the kitchen with this one.

Honestly, I don’t get all the astonishment at how “great” this looks. It’s okay, but it’s nothing spectacular – it’s just another mediocre iPhone game from where I stand. However, if you were to take away the moving walls, spread out the neon colors making the color palate and texturing more consistent throughout, I think this would go a long way in presenting a more consistent look for the NIGHT STALKER world.

Anyhow, I’m sure none of this will happen. And I’m sure it probably “is what it is” at this point. But I had really high hopes for this game, and THIS IS NOT IT. I only hope that the original NIGHT STALKER accompanies this update, otherwise, it’s probably GAME OVER for me at this point. Not that I’ve given up on AMICO, but let’s just say that my hopes are not as high.

But be this as it may, the INTELLIVISION was a great game system. My decades of gaming were built upon both it and ATARI – fond memories. So, to whom it may concern, please take this as a bit of CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM, and not as a complete bash, because that is not the intention of this post. Best wishes.

  2. I played the shit out of Night Stalker back in the day. B17 Bomber, Night Stalker, Tron Deadly disks, Advanced Dungeons and Dragons, Burger Time. Damn…. I'm about pull it out the closet. I still have about 70 games for it
